This book was a lot darker than I thought. Almost to the point where I almost stopped reading because of how uncomfortable I felt. However, the suspense gripped me and I ended up getting caught up in the mystery aspects.

I love psychic books, so I liked that portion of the novel the best. I could feel for Ramie after finding out her powers come at such a high cost. Basically, she feels everything her subjects are going through and some of her experiences involve her being tortured. Ramie is a mess and she reaches out to Caleb for help.

Caleb is my favorite type of romance hero: handsome, brooding, complex. I didn’t like some of the decisions he made, but I tried to empathize. I did like how he tried to redeem himself and became uber-protective over Ramie.

There were a few jaw dropping twists. I honestly couldn’t put the book down during the final third of the story. Another plus was the sex scenes were very steamy. Slow Burn is a must-read for fans of adult paranormal romances with a twist.
