Drama, drama, drama! That’s all I could think about when
reading More Than This. I was so upset with the author for putting Mikayla
through so much in such a short period of time! But the heartache kept me
reading in hopes Mikayla would end up happy after all.
Mikayla had my sympathy because of all the tragedies she
suffered, but I wouldn’t say she was my favorite character. I guess I just
didn’t understand a lot of her insecurities. I also didn’t care for a lot of
the petty jealousy stuff. But I did like that she had a bookish, introverted
side.
Jake was all kinds of awesome. His character was designed to
make the masses swoon. He’s the whole package: sweet, sexy, Australian accent…
I loved the friendships he had too and how welcoming his group was to Mikayla.
The pace was good and I did finish the book quickly. I
wished that some of the hardships Mikayla faced weren’t resolved in such
convenient ways. Although I know she needed the support, it would’ve been nice
to see her pick herself up off the floor once in a while.
The conclusion was amazing. I was really pleased with how
the author wrapped up Mikayla and Jake’s story. There are more books in the
series, so I am excited to check them out!
