This is definitely a guilty pleasure book. If you’re looking
for a book that allows you to shut off your brain and just go with it, then I
highly recommend The Dolls. Most of the characters are shallow and the main
character has a few too stupid to live moments, but I enjoyed the book well
enough. There’s a lot of materialism in the book and I think another reviewer
who called the novel Mean Girls with magic was right on. The romance felt
forced at first, but ended up growing on me more as the story progressed. I’d
say if you’re in the mood for a candy-like read for YAs, then pick up The
Dolls.
