This was a great alien/human romance novel! I loved the main
character and I thought the world building was so interesting. I’m definitely
looking forward to the next installment to the series. Especially after the ending!
Jax really drew me in. I loved how I always felt her
emotions in the story. She has gone through some horrible stuff, but she
manages to stay strong and keep on surviving. Her voice felt authentic and I
thought she dealt with the kidnapping of her brother in a brave way.
Lir was a solid love interest and I enjoyed never having a
good read on him. At times, I wondered like Jax if he really was a good guy or
not. My only complaint was I couldn’t really picture how Jax could be
physically attractive to him (honestly I couldn’t get past the scales on his
back).
The plot was fast moving, but I never felt like any parts
were rushed. The alien and human societies were detailed, but I never felt like
the author was giving too much away.
The ending left me with a lot of questions, so I’m eagerly
waiting for the next book. Anyone who loves YA romances with a sci-fi twist
will definitely enjoy Broken Skies.
