Oh Dank Walker, what an emotional roller coaster you have put me through. As one of my favorite book crushes, I was quite sad to see the series end. As much as Dank was still a drool-worthy male anti-hero, the novel fell short in a few ways for me.
The novel is kind of a do-over for all of the characters. Pagan has no memory of Dank because the Deity wants her to choose fairly between Dank and her soulmate Jay. Dank has to figure out how to make her fall in love with him again without their shared history. Since Dank is amazingly hot, a rock star and a perfect gentleman, it's less of a challenge than it sounds.
Glines is very talented at writing steamy scenes. I had to literally stop and fan myself in a few parts. Her descriptions were amazing and really brought the characters to life for me.
My main problem with the novel is that there didn't seem to be any major conflict. The plot never felt suspenseful and besides a couple of random twists thrown in at the end, I knew what would happen early on. Spoiler Alert Jay was never a true rival to Dank. He was bland from the moment he was introduced and you couldn't exactly cheer for a guy who asked out another girl right before he was supposed to go out with Pagan. How could he be her soulmate when they had zero chemistry? End of Spoiler
After finishing the trilogy, I would say the second book was my favorite. If this novel had more of Leif and a baddie that added more conflict, then it would've been elevated for me.
