Also, don't forget to comment to enter the chance to win a $30 Amazon gift card and an autographed copy of First Visions. Details of the contests are posted here.

1. Describe yourself Twitter style. (140 characters or less)

Freelance travel and fitness writer turned fiction author and lover of all things paranormal.

2. What inspired you to write First Visions?

My beloved grandmother passed away last year and I found some old stories I had written as a teen at her house. Although most of the writing was complete crap (with horrendous lines like “she let out a scream that could break even the cruelest of hearts”), I did come across a story about a psychic who helps find an abducted child.

3. How did you come up with the cover?

I spent hours going over different photographs and played around with a few different ones until settling on the selected cover. The photo came across as both beautiful and mysterious. I felt like the girl was seeing things that the rest of us couldn’t.

I love it. It's a stunning cover.

4. Who are some of your favorite writers?

I have eclectic tastes and like writers from all different genres. A few of my favorites off the top of my head would be Suzanne Collins, Stephenie Meyer, Sophie Kinsella, Addison Moore, Lauren Oliver, Jane Austen, Jodi Picoult and Janet Evanovich.

5. What book(s) are you reading now?

Across the Universe by Beth Revis and Awake: A Fairytale by Jessica Grey.

6. Do you have a favorite quote? By whom, and why?

I’ve actually come across some great Marilyn Monroe quotes lately with my favorites including: “Ever notice how ‘what the hell’ is always the right answer?” and “A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left.”

Lol, love the first one. The second one makes me a little sad...

7. What is your favorite song right now?

“Somebody That I Used to Know” by Goyte. I’ve probably listened to it and all the cover versions like a thousand times.

Me too!! :)

8. Share 3 random facts about yourself that most people don't know:

I played the trombone in elementary school and high school (you can only imagine how cool that made me).

I’m a theater geek who used to listen religiously to the songbooks of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Miss Saigon with her cousins as a kid.

I grew up a block away from the ocean, but since my family doesn’t like waves, we never really went to the beach and instead preferred to drive a half an hour away to go swimming at a lake.

9. What are your future writing plans?

I’ve been working on book two in the Second Sight series and have also outlined book three. Everything has been worked out in my head, so I just need to translate the story to paper. I’m also developing another YA series idea that I’m hoping to start soon.

10. Where can your readers follow you?

I post on Twitter a lot under my user name woodtop255. I also have my personal blog at http://authorheather.wordpress.com

Purchase your own copy of First Visions at Amazon or Barnes&Noble
