AUTHOR BIO
J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).
She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.

My Review:
What an awesome book! As I write this review, I’m seriously trying to come up with something critical to say, but there’s honestly not a single thing I’d change. I loved it all: great plot, amazing characters and some super sexy scenes.
I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I first read the synopsis. A book about models? Ugh, usually not my thing at all. But as usual my preconceptions were blown out of the water and I instantly fell in love with Rook and Ronin.
Rook had me from the first page. I loved her snark and her ballsy attitude. She’s brought into this crazy modeling lifestyle when she shows up at a test shoot after pinching an invitation from a model at a Starbucks. Rook is tough, but I loved how the author made it clear that there was something very fragile about the down on her luck girl as well. Ronin was tougher to figure out, but this made him the perfect New Adult lead. The mysteriousness combined with the sexy descriptions made him drool worthy.
The pacing was fantastic and I never felt it dragging in parts. I liked that readers were brought on this journey with Rook as she was introduced to the world of modeling by the photographer Antoine, Ronin and Ronin’s sister Elise. The photo shoots were so damn hot! The sexual chemistry between Rook and Ronin was smoldering from their very first meeting and the heat continued to build.
There is also plenty of angst between the characters and Rook and Ronin both have some issues to resolve before a happily ever after.
I absolutely loved the book and I can’t wait for the sequel!
Rating: 5/5 Stars
