Friday Book Blog Hops #11

Happy Friday all! I'm participating in two of my favorite Friday book hops today. Make sure to stop by my New Revelations Book Tour Giveaway for a chance to win a brand new Kindle.

RULES

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

That's definitely a toughie. I guess too many points of views in a novel drives me a little up the wall. Switching between two narrators is one thing, but head hopping an entire novel makes it hard for me to connect with the characters.

Book Blogger Hop

From the Crazy for Books blog:

"The Book Blogger Hop is much more than just a “follow for a follow”. It’s about making friends. There are literally thousands of book bloggers around the world. It can seem like we are blogging in a bubble, constantly checking the same blogs over and over again. The Hop is about taking the time to make a quality visit to another blog, getting to know the person who is writing that blog, and seeing if you really *want* to follow that person!"

Every week is a chance to visit a new blog or more, find connections, and learn about new books to read! The Friday Book Blogger hop was gone for a while, but it's back and better than ever. I missed it and I'm happy to participate as we rotate hosts! I'll be hosting this week and next!
1. How did you find out about book blogging and what made you decide to start one yourself?

When I first started my blog, it was mainly to promote my first book. I figured it would be a good way to talk about my writing and upcoming events for my novel. However, I started connecting with some other book blogs and found that I enjoyed talking about books as much as discussing my writing. I now try to do a mix of book reviews, memes, writing tips and promo posts.

  2. Some switching is fine, between a couple of characters, but switching between pretty much all the characters is not cool and just does my head in.

    New GFC follower. :)

  3. I agree about multiple POV's. For me, anything more than 2 ruins the story.

  4. Yeah usually three POV's is my max, unless they can make it work with more POV's and I still feel connected to the characters.

  5. Multiple pov's are tough. They can be done right and other times not so much.

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  6. I want to feel connected to the characters too. So too many POVs can ruin a reading experience for me. Of course, there are some exceptions to every rule! Old follower.

    Happy Friday!

  8. I love multiple POV as long as the other indicates when the POV changes!

  9. Hi! New follower here. I agree with head hopping being one of the most annoying things an author can do. It's hard to keep things straight sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

Also, I am giving away a Kindle or Nook (winners choice) on my blog if you are interested. The contest ends in 1 day!

    Peace & Love
