Works in Progress Updates and Deadly Prophecy (Second Sight Spinoff) Book Teaser

Here are my current works in progress:
Finding Autumn (In Edits)-Release Scheduled for July
Pretending Hearts (Falling for Autumn #2) (In Progress)
Deadly Prophecy (Second Sight Spinoff) (1/4 Complete-In Progress)
The Memory Witch 2 (In Progress)
I'm not going to post official release dates for the rest of the books since I still have a large chunk of them to write. I will give you a teaser though (unedited) of Declan's spin-off book. This will have spoilers if you haven't read the final Second Sight book.

Before he could ask Kate her opinion on the case, she shoved him hard. His back slammed into the brick siding of the restaurant. He glared down at her as she twisted her lips into a hateful expression. “What the hell was that?”
“What are you talking about?” He held up his hands in front of his body. “I told you what she wanted. Not every case is going to be about someone missing.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about and you know it. You’ve been a bastard since yesterday and just embarrassed me in front of a client.”
“You’re the one who kicked me and made a scene. I was joking with you, it’s how we always are.” Kate opened her mouth to retort, but he rallied on. “I don’t know why you’re so sensitive about getting married to Jared. Maybe it’s a mental problem. Have you talked to your mom about it? Maybe your parents’ divorce has given you commitment issues.”
“Or maybe you’re just a dick. Yes, we always rag on each other, but this was different. You called me fat and made fun of my ring.”
“You act like such a girl sometimes. I always tease you about how much you eat and your relationship with Jared. Stop being so uptight.”
“We’ve been friends for a while now and I know you, Dec. I know when you’re messing with me and when something else is going on. You’re not happy about the engagement.”
“Christ Kate, leave it alone. My life doesn’t revolve around you and your convoluted love life. I said I’m happy for you. What else do you want? Should I throw a parade in your honor? Offer to give you away at the wedding?”
Kate took an uncertain step away from him. “No. I thought you would be my friend and Jared’s friend. I thought you would be a decent human being and realize I’m finally happy after almost losing Jared. I can’t change what happened between me and you, but if you can’t deal with it, then maybe we should reconsider a partnership.”
Declan stared over her head into the parking lot. “We’re good. I swear. Maybe my jokes were tasteless, but I didn’t mean anything by then. We make a good team and it would be stupid to walk away from what we started to build together.”
Kate stared at him for a long moment, apparently weighing whether to accept his half-hearted apology or walk away for good. “Fine, but our business needs ground rules.”
“What kind of rules?”
“For one, no sleeping with the clients.” Declan’s jaw dropped as Kate continued on. “Don’t give me that look. I saw the way you were looking at Jenna and picturing her with no clothes on. We can’t have you scorning women who have come to us for help.”
Declan thought it was a stupid rule, but his relationship with Kate was shaky at the minute. He would give her this to appease her. Making their business a success was more important than sleeping with the clients.
“Fine. My rule is to stop hitting me. If we’re working together, I can’t be worried about your violent urges.”
Kate rolled her eyes. “What can I say? You bring out the worse in me.”

Cover Re-Reveal: The Final Omen: Second Sight Book Four

With the Macbook's hard drive gone, I lost my cover files as well. Although I may have been able to do some tweeks with the online version of my cover, I decided to go in a completely different direction. I really feel the new cover better reflects the end of Kate's story:

Psychic Kate Edwards had seen her death in a premonition. She was given the opportunity to stop her murder from happening and finally reconnect with her love Detective Jared Corbett. However, fate had different ideas…

Kate finds herself trapped between life and death. Her only companion is Rose Corbett, Jared’s long dead mother. Rose offers answers to many of Kate’s long-awaited questions and alludes to what the future could hold. However, before Kate can finally be happy, she must complete a seemingly impossible task: save Jared from his own tragic fate.

The Final Omen concludes the thrilling Second Sight series.

The Final Omen: Second Sight Book Four Teaser and Update

If you've been following along on my Facebook page, then you may have heard about my Macbook Air fail that basically took half of The Final Omen with it. After being sent to the best technological genuises in the field of data recovery, it was deemed a total loss. Since I'll have to rewrite a good chunk of the book, the release date is now November 9. In the meantime, enjoy an unedited excerpt from the final series novel:

Just breathe, Kate…
Hysteria bubbled up inside of her as Kate Edwards realized her ridiculous line of thinking. She couldn’t breathe. Because she was dead and the dead didn’t need to breathe.
Grasping the edge of the kitchen countertop for support, she used her free hand to touch the side of her face. She needed assurances of the corporeality of her body. Her flesh felt real. Taking a quick inventory of the rest of her body, she saw the same arms and legs, the same ten pounds she’d been trying to lose.
Her head snapped up and Rose Corbett was still standing before her, staring at her with a mix of emotions Kate couldn’t discern. Anguish floored her again as she took in Rose’s raven colored hair, the same hair of her son Jared. The son Kate craved with her entire being. The one she had told she loved before she died on him.
They were in the Edwards home or some alternative version of it. Minutes ago or possibly longer since Kate was unsure if time worked the same in this place, Kate had been murdered. Killed by an insane masked intruder in her own home. The tragedy was Kate had a premonition of her murder before it happened. Details had changed, but the gist was she still ended up in a puddle of blood on the floor, butchered, her ex-boyfriend Jared too late to revive her.
When she came to in the dining room, nary a cut in sight, she assumed it was another premonition. A flash of black hair in the kitchen had her heart singing. Jared was there! She would confess her visions about her murder and he’d protect her. Instead, Rose had stepped towards her, saying her name.
“Why?” Kate demanded. “What was the point of it all? Why did I have the premonitions if I was going to die no matter what I did?”
A security system and self-defense training hadn’t stopped her attack. Investigating her future murder with fellow psychic Declan Brayden hadn’t unmasked her killer. Months of knowing she could die, but foolishly believing her case wasn’t hopeless.
“Kate, I…” Rose began.
“You can’t…I can’t hear you say it. Because when you say the words, it’ll make it real and I’ll be forced to accept that it’s all over.” She took a long minute to study Rose, taking in her thick dark eyelashes, her glossy midnight black hair, cascading in waves to her waistline. She was exquisite, unearthly beautiful in a yellow sundress. “Is this my purgatory? Being stuck inside of my house and forced to stare at a spitting image of him?”

Interview With Kate Edwards from First Visions: Second Sight Book One

As part of First Visions Birthday celebration, I was feeling nostalgic and I found this interview Kate Edwards did last year as part of my very first blog tour. The answers are so Kate lol and I even dropped in a few hints about things that happen in later books. Just a reminder First Visions: Second Sight Book One will remain on sale for 99 cents through the weekend on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

When did you first realize you’re psychic?

Jeez lady, don’t you have to do a little research before you go and interview someone? I lived in a skeezy college dorm when I was 19 and caught meningitis. One near death experience later, I woke up with the ability to slip into other people’s memories.

Why did you keep being psychic hidden for so long?

When you’re psychic, it not only makes you uncomfortable, but the people around you. Everyone has dirty little secrets they don’t want you to find out. Since I don’t have much control over my visions, I often find out things about people I rather not know. It was just easier to say that the vision that led me to Matt Spencer two years ago was a one-time occurrence.

What changed for you?

I know I have my hang-ups. I’m immature and tend to have my guard up at all times. I think part of it comes from feeling like a freak of nature when I woke up from the coma with a second sight. But I’m not a horrible person. I want to help people and if my visions give me the chance to locate the missing, that’s what I need to do.

I’ve heard rumors you’re personally involved with a detective on the Cori Preston case, is this true?

Personally involved, that’s such a strange term, don’t you think? I mean my gynecologist gets an eyeful once a year, but you wouldn’t say I was personally involved with him, would you?

It seems like you’re dodging the question?

Jared Corbett is a great guy and a very dedicated detective. And he just so happens to be genetically blessed. I mean everyone has a crush on him, it would be impossible not to.

If you were a color, what color would it be?

What kind of Psych 101 B.S, is that? What if I say red, does it mean I’m deep down an axe murderer or something? Anyway, I guess I would pick gray. I can have a bit of a stormy personality at times. Plus, this hot guy I know has gray eyes.

Favorite TV show?
The Maury Show. I know I’m psychic, but I can usually guess who is the baby’s daddy way before the paternity test results are revealed.

What is it like to be in someone else’s mind?

You would think it would be really exciting, right? Nope, not usually. Since I can’t control the visions I see, most of the time I either witness people’s most mundane or grossest memories. I really don’t want to know about the affair my dentist is having or how my neighbor stole fifty bucks worth of undergarments from the local Wal-Mart. This is not to say all of my visions are horrible. They can help me understand a person’s motivations better. Sometimes they also offer up the chance for me to help others.

How did your family react when you told them about your gift?

I think most of my family thinks I have daddy issues and I’m making up the visions to get attention. Believe me, I could do a lot more outrageous things if I wanted to get my father’s attention. However, my mom has been super supportive and thinks maybe there’s a reason I developed these powers when I almost died.

Is it hard to hide that you are psychic?

Most people think psychics are full of it, so it’s easy to play it off and pretend I don’t really have this strange ability. When I do confide in them, they ask me to predict something. Believe me I wish I could predict something. I’d buy a lottery ticket with winning numbers and move me and my mom into the biggest McMansion in all of Franklin.

Do you plan on returning to college?

I’m doing online classes now and majoring in English. I wanted to take a few art classes, but that’s not really possible since you typically need to be physically present.

What do you have planned for yourself after you graduate?

Well, I’m going to have an English degree and I don’t want to teach, so that’s a tough question to answer. I may end up having to set up a psychic booth down the shore and charge the tourists tenners if I can’t decide on a real job.

If you could choose to have a super power, would you keep the one you have or choose another?

Hmm, I probably would want the ability to see into the future. I see into the past and there’s nothing you can do to change what’s already happened.

What’s your favorite thing about living in NJ?

That people always expect you to be a cliched representation of a cast member of the Jersey Shore. Just kidding, you get the best of both worlds and live close to both the city and the beach.

Second Sight Book Four FAQs

Since the release of Dark Premonitions last week, I received some questions about the fourth book of the series. Warning! The following does contain spoilers from the third book, so don't continue if you have yet to read it.

When will Second Sight Book Four be released?

I don't have a firm date yet, but most likely it'll come out in early September.

How many books are in the series?

Second Sight Book Four will be the final novel in the series. I have been tossing around the idea of a prequel novella that takes place during the time Kate went into the coma and awoke with her powers. However, the fourth book will most likely be released first.

Is Kate dead?

She's dead-ish, lol. The final scene with Jared's mother takes place in the inbetween. The book will open where the third book left out and readers will find out Rose Corbett's role in everything that has happened to Kate and Jared up to this point.

Will Declan still come between Kate and Jared?

Declan is going to play a pivotal role in the final book. Jared and Declan team up to find out who attacked Kate and develop a sort of shaky friendship.

Will Kate and Jared EVER have sex? (This one is actually from my hubby hehe.)

There are a few love scenes in Second Sight Book Four and since it's been building up for so long, they have to be epic, right?

Second Sight Book Three FAQs

Today, I thought I’d talk about Second Sight Book Three. Readers had a few questions about it and I have shared my answers below. Now, if you haven’t read New Revelations, BEWARE, there will be spoilers in this post.

When will the next book be released?
My hope is to release Second Sight Book Three in March. It would be awesome if it works out to be March 7 (my birthday!). I’m working as quickly as I can because I know cliffhangers can drive readers crazy (hopefully in a good way). There will be a total of four books in the series and possibly a prequel novella.

I HATE Declan. Will he ruin everything between Jared and Kate?
Declan has inspired a special kind of hatred it seems. I’m actually planning a character interview post where he responds to all of his hate mail. Declan will be in the next book, but Kate ends up working on a new missing persons case without his help.

Are Jared and Kate really over?
Not if Kate has any say in it. In the first half of the third book, Kate invites herself to tag along with Jared while he visits his aunt in Maine. This part is enjoyable to write because readers get to learn more about Jared and his family. There will also be a chapter told from Jared’s point of view.

Will we find out more about Kate’s future visions?
Kate turns a bit spastic after her vision at the end of last book. She becomes paranoid over who could want to kill her and tries to figure out how to protect herself from the fate she witnessed. The future vision puts a lot of things in perspective for Kate and it helps her continued growth through the next two books.

Excerpt from New Revelations: Second Sight Book Two

Here's the prologue of New Revelations: Second Sight Book Two. It has popped up on several of the blogs as part of my book tour. Make sure to stop by the blogs and leave a comment to enter my giveaway for a new Amazon Kindle. Details are here.

Blood blanketed Kate’s body. It soaked through her tank top and turned the formerly tan shirt a deep shade of crimson. She had lost consciousness for an undetermined amount of time and knew she probably only had minutes left until she blacked out again.
Panic was setting in, she pushed it away. Her chest wound was bleeding the most. She attempted to use her hands to put pressure on it. Maybe if she could slow down the bleeding, she would have half a chance. She tried not to think about the possibility of her attacker returning to make sure the job was finished. Kate hoped the sound of the car pulling into the driveway had scared him off.
The car door. Someone had arrived at the house before she passed out, she realized with a start. She had thought it was her mother, but she would have found Kate by now. As she tried to focus on her surroundings, she could barely make out a muffled voice calling her name from outside of the house.
Kate tried to respond, tears from the pain ran down her cheeks. The fear of death seemed to be holding her frozen. Her screams sounded like whimpers and there would be no way the sound would travel to her potential savior from her huddled form on the kitchen floor all the way through the front door. Her own blood was choking her and the hopelessness of her situation threatened her grip on sanity. Kate was a pop culture fanatic—she knew that in the movies blood gushing out of the mouth usually meant the character was a goner.
Kate summoned the last of the strength in her broken body and attempted to crawl through the darkness towards the front of the house. The kitchen floor was sticky with a mixture of blood and the Diet Coke she had dropped earlier. Her entire body cried out with each movement she made, but she forced herself to go farther. It felt like miles as she traveled only inches and she prayed that whoever was knocking at the door would not give up and leave.
Kate made it as far as the doorway separating the hallway and kitchen. Her body collapsed and she whined as she realized that she was only a few feet from the front door. The doorbell rang again and the injustice of her predicament set in. She was going to bleed out all over her mother’s Persian carpet and wait alone while the life slowly seeped out of her. Help was within reach, but still so far away. This was never the way she imagined she would die.

I printed a portion of the interview below, but make sure you stop by their blog to read the interview in its entirety. This tour stop is also the launch of my new giveaway for a $20 Amazon.com gift card and autographed copy of my novel. Exclusive Interview with Psychic Kate Edwards from First Visions:Second Sight Book One

Kate Edwards from First Visions was kind enough to let me interview her for today's post. First Visions will be going on sale for just $1.99 starting tomorrow through Sunday June 24 on Amazon.com.
