Friday Blog Hop #12

Hope everyone is safe after this is devastating week. I live in New Jersey and was fortunate enough to only lose power for two days. I'm from Long Branch, a coastal NJ town, and it's hard to believe the destruction. If you can, make sure to donate in some way to help those in need.

I'm participating in two of my favorite Friday book hops today. Make sure to stop by my New Revelations Book Tour Giveaway for a chance to win a brand new Kindle.

RULES

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

Bad editing is definitely hard to get past, especially when it's to the point where it takes you out of the story. I also need a good romance when I read, if I hate the love interest, I usually won't finish the book.
Book Blogger Hop

From the Crazy for Books blog:

"The Book Blogger Hop is much more than just a “follow for a follow”. It’s about making friends. There are literally thousands of book bloggers around the world. It can seem like we are blogging in a bubble, constantly checking the same blogs over and over again. The Hop is about taking the time to make a quality visit to another blog, getting to know the person who is writing that blog, and seeing if you really *want* to follow that person!"

Every week is a chance to visit a new blog or more, find connections, and learn about new books to read! The Friday Book Blogger hop was gone for a while, but it's back and better than ever. I missed it and I'm happy to participate as we rotate hosts! I'll be hosting this week and next!

Is there a book that has been languishing on your TBR pile even though you spent months anticipating its release?

It's ridiculous how many books that I was dying to read and haven't gotten to. This includes Prized by Caragh O'Brien, Black Dawn by Rachel Caine, Crown of Embers by Rae Carson and Ephemeral by Addison Moore.

  1. Nice! I agree the editing has to be horrendous for me to not enjoy the story. I've found errors in the past in books but it was never enough to detract from the story itself.

And yeah, I can admit now I need some romance in a book. Even if it's just romantic tension or sparks...just something!

  2. Ack - why did you have to mention Crown of Embers?! Lol - there are so many books I want to read - I mean, I put up a monthly "book release excitement" post ... and I haven't finished the books I mentioned from January this year!

  5. My son lives in Hoboken....it is very heartbreaking. He still has no electricity.

It is difficult to find the time to read all the books we have, but it is fun looking at all of them on the shelves. :)

  6. Great answer, I mentioned editing in my FFF as well this week. I'm definitely with you on the good romance as well! If I'm not feeling the romance, I'll probably lose interest in the overall story pretty quick. Thanks for sharing, old follower :)

  7. I have a ton of books that I was really wanting to read as well and just haven't got to you yet. Wish I could read more at night without falling asleep. :)

  8. I agree on the bad editing. It can change my whole opinion on the novel but I try my best to ignore it unless it's really bad.

  11. Bad editing is definitely a deal breaker. I've run across books that everyone is raving about and yet I can't get past the first chapter because the editing is so bad.

  12. I struggle with a book that has bad editing. Sometimes I finish them, especially if it's an author I know, because I know they want feedback. Otherwise, I let it go/abandon it. I just started reading your second book. I'm super excited :) WRITE ON!
